What is average to good DPS for fresh level 60?

I transfered my lock over from retail and I'm going to try to get his spec/slills/rotation figured out this evening. I am just wondering what moderate-good DPS should be for a fresh level 60 (with the mostly blue gear).

This is not a question specific for warlock, more for any and all DPS classes. What do be generally expect to be at when they hit level 60?

Armory, since I understand that my transfer gear may be better than a fresh level 60.

As a lock at 60 my very first boss i did 500 dps. I know this because it was last week lol

This is a good starting point for me. Thanks. So if I am below 500 on a test dummy (with out boss mechanics and with transfer gear) then I need to go back to the drawing board.

May I ask what spec you were in?

standard Affliction/Destro spec
Just keep your DoTs rolling and shadow bolt spam literally all there is to it.
Get that hit rating up (working on it myself) Start with High powered flashlight trinket..24 hit rating

I enjoy it, and I'm here to have fun. I will find ways to maximize my own dps.

Also, I'm not sure I have the attention span to play affliction properly.

I will see what my dps is this evening when I figure my spec out.

I never really actively raided (and geared/chanted/gemmed...) until WotLK... so I don't know much about preparing for vanilla/TBC. And guides can't help since we are running 3.3.5a client. I am going to have a lot of fun here kind of figuring stuff out on my own and through a lot of interaction with the community.

Warlock in dungeon blues: 500ish
With a respectable amount of hit, maybe Bloodvine: 600-700
BiS gear in raids: maintain 1200-1300 for any length of time.

Have fun with destro, but I would suggest you just try 34/1/16 for a little bit. Its objectively better, and Siphon Life and a felhunter mana battery make your life easier.

well, I watched Fitzs video, did my spec and ran over to the training dummy and was doing 350-360 DPS i suppose stuff like buffs/enchants/gear will all help with that.

One question Fitz. Why dont you start with immolate? I have always started with immolate because i would rather cast before i get into combat, then once immolate goes off its just 2 instant casts and all my dots are on and im casting Shadow Bolts. instead of two instant cast then another 1.5 second cast before all my dots are on. does the DPS of the other dots make this insignificant?

Coefficient for CoD: 200%
Coefficient for Corruption: 260% (+siphon life)
Coeff for Immolate: 120%

I just looked at your gear and 0 hit raiding will absolutely kill your dps (you want 115ish). On top of missing SBs, you will miss CoDs and still trigger the CD, dropping your dps, and may have difficulty maintaining your shadow embrace stacks. The PVP gear also has low SP, which is far and away your most important stat after hit. The Bloodvine set would be an outstanding upgrade for you.

I was doing CoA when I was hitting the dummy yesterday. Yea, the gear is just what they gave me when I transfered. I will start working on getting PVE gear with SP and hit.

Thanks for the guidance. I look forward to draining the life from my enemies again. (When I first started wow, I did not know much about warcraft or mmorpgs but just based on the descriptions of each class I got from friends I knew I had to be a warlock. Draining the life of my foes to recover my own health whilst summoning and controlling demons? Sign me up!)
