Our realms merging - 2 November
Our realms merging - 2 November
Following the previous announcement, our realms will merge on 2 November. Starting from 11AM server time, at least 4 hours of downtime is expected. The functionality of both realms is already the same but afterwards all your characters can be found under TrueWoW (which is no longer a PvP realm). At the same time both arena seasons will end and rewards given accordingly, more information about our arena seasons can be found here and here.
• 10+ Characters: If your account has more than 10 characters across both realms then a new account will get created with the same username except a comma "," added in front. All characters from your least played realm will be moved to that account. The account will be linked to the same forum account but first requires a password reset in the Account Manager. Contact staff if you need help with recovery or if you want a new username for this account.
• Name conflicts: If a character name is taken at both realms, the one with the most played time keeps it. In this case you still get the option for a free rename if you wish to give the name to the other character (maybe you own both characters). The other character will be forced to choose a new name at next login. Inactive characters were already renamed so there are not many conflicts. If you believe you deserved the name instead, contact staff with reasons to review it manually and don't rename the character until you have an answer.
• Guild names: The guild with the most members keeps the name, the other gets a dot "." added. These guild leaders may contact staff if they wish a new name or for review if there are objections. Additionally only a few arena teams are affected with inactive leaders, hardly worth mentioning.
• Addon settings: These are saved with your WoW client and won't automatically work for PrimalWoW characters because the realm name gets changed. The same happens with a change in username or character name. You can go to this topic if you need help to copy settings.
It's a full merge so nothing else should really be affected. As said before, we won't delete any characters, items, etc.

Just a suggestion - use an X at the end of names/accounts/guilds - this is what most games do when performing merges (in my experience).
“If you suffer your people to be ill-educated, their manners corrupted from birth; then punish them for those crimes which their first education disposed them, then what else is to be concluded, but that you first make thieves and then punish them.”
Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
thought this was suppose to happen at the end of the year....

The big boys of TrueWoW need fresh souls to feed their Shadowmournes. Have fun in the big boy's league!
You should check the current BGs stats on https://truewow.org/pvpstats/ and https://truewow.org/pvpstats2/
and compare the disparity of activity between both servers.
Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
amazing that the only way to get new people on the Big Boy server is to merge the progressive server into it and only give them 2 months to try and catch up to the 10 year players....
Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
Yes
I suggest you and your PW buddies voice your opinions in my suggestion thread to make PvP accessible, fair and most likely enjoyable. (viewtopic.php?p=430096)
because right now (and as expected), only the "10 year" veteran Hellraiser guys are responding and downvoting.
However, overgearing is fine for PvE in my opinion because the overgeared guys most likely already have the loot you want.
Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
Roel made the reasons for the merge abundantly crystal clear.skyx wrote: The big boys of TrueWoW need fresh souls to feed their Shadowmournes. Have fun in the big boy's league!
We neither have the personnel nor the resources to provide PW its originally intended progression, as much as we would've loved to do otherwise.
Therefore, PW has become surplus to requirements and its current WotLK needs can be fulfilled with the existing TW realm (since they're functionally identical).
This decision was deliberated upon for months and was not made lightly.
We would appreciate it if you didn't constantly spread this false narrative among the players (that it's being done simply to feed old/overgeared players) simply because it suits your own personal point of view (along with the suggestions that go with it).
If you wish to stir up support for your suggestions, that's fine.
However, kindly refrain from spreading misinformation and stay on topic.

Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
Well, again this is unfortunate.. I was against the rush into WOTLK, against the release of all tiers. I do understand why you did it, but would almost prefer to keep PW in TBC, until someone could pick up the mantle and carry the mantle forwards.
It is a shame it is beeing merged so soon, I had hopes it would stay longer in wotlk phase, but progression waits for noone, so will be interesting to see who will stay after the merge from PW`s side (stay active that is).

Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
Lvl to max lvl profs to max get pre raid gear do 4 tiers of raids and do it all in 2 months... Who's dumbass idea was this? No 1 on the server has 4p t10 yet no 1 has SM yet didn't get to even kill more then 5 bosses in ulduar b.c of bugs.... Should at lest be 1 month to lvl + 1 month per tier ... Some 1 has gotten the idea that the merge of primal will bring life to tw agin ... Sorry but ur wrong 20 pop server with another 20 pop server isn't going to magically give tw 400 + pop .. every step of this has been done poorly ... Tw should have been ended when primal got to wotlk let the 10+ year sever die... A new progressive wotlk server not only would have kept primal players happy but would have brought new players to the server ... No 1 wants to play on a 10 year done wotlk server but for the players that have been there for 10 years
Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
yall basically trying to kill yall server by merging us so early i dnt want to go in and pvp people that got sm when i dnt even have a chance to get it make no sense to do this give me some logically reasons to do the merge so early even if we down development tw is been out for 10 year it should not have any bug at that point so it done now all you got to focus on is pw and it not hard at all

Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
Reasons were given many times, lots of discussions happened, roel and rest staff informed about changes, gave reasons. There gonna be no "perfect" server without bugs, originally even retail at this moment is bugged on most things (you can find bugged ulduar there too). SM weapon is part of game and its up to players how they builds their pvp gears and in addition this item is freely obtainable in game.
Also @charlie, Its like you show no respect to players which spent time and made efforts for their characters in TW. Same would sound for PW players which doesn;t want to loose their progress.
PW and TW merge had to happen eventually. When resources are limited, it was only option to ease workflow.
And seriously, ignore and stop spreading missinformation

Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
its nice that we got asked about pvp or pve for the server but there wasn't a poll to see if PW wanted to stay tbc or go to wrath. Of course the PW players are not happy about loosing the chance to progress thru the content, we are the ones losing the progression we was promised not the TW players and their 10 years of gearing. We have already lost people that didn't want wrath...

Re: Our realms merging - 2 November
it was mostly promised by staff which is not existing currently, back then staff was bigger and we had more man power. This was said countless times... anyways just try to not fall into quick conclusions but read what project founder said in previous announcements, posts. Its all well explained

I suggest you watch your tone if you intend to make any further posts on this forum.charlie wrote:
There are ways to express disapproval in a civilized and constructive manner.
Your post is not definitely not one of them.
Where are you getting the "20 players per realm" number from?
Did you even bother to check our online charts?
https://truewow.org/online-charts
The population numbers during your personal time zone do not alter the fact that the actual peak hour figures are three times higher than what you stated.
This past Thursday, we had a peak of 80 players on TW and 67 on PW (between 19:00 server time and 01:00 server time, CEST).
That's a potential 147 players if the realms were merged at this very second, if not at least 100 or more.
Having seen the charts week after week, that isn't even the highest number for this week (we almost always see our highest peaks on Sundays).
I normally wouldn't even dignify such a disrespectful post with a response, but the blatantly false information in your post demanded correction.
Do you realize how preposterous this statement is? Do you have any idea how private servers work?traxius wrote: tw is been out for 10 year it should not have any bug at that point so it done now all you got to focus on is pw and it not hard at all
Do you actually believe that once a bug is fixed, it remains fixed forever?
The development process is a perpetual cycle of things being fixed and things breaking down due to other fixes or due to other issues that don't always reveal themselves during initial tests.
In other words, endless trial and error.
You don't even need to be a developer to understand this.
Our developers fix things on a regular basis. And things still break anyway, no matter how benign the fixes are.
Personally, I've lost count of the number of things we've had to fix and then re-fix almost every week or month (and if you didn't even feel the difference in the meantime, that's just a testament to the hard work that our Devs put in daily).
A private server requires an enormous amount of time and effort to keep it operational and maintained.
This is the reality of almost every private server's development.
As seen in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=50&t=40298Dbearded1 wrote:
We made it clear that PW's progression became a luxury we could no longer afford.
We also made it clear that keeping PW as a static TBC realm was also not an option.
As the other staff members mentioned, this decision was deliberated for several months in prior.
The entire team voted upon it. This is not decision that was made lightly. We don't like it but we have no choice.
When resources are stretched to the limit, consolidation and allocation is the only logical way to proceed.
