Investigating "lag" Issues
Investigating "lag" Issues
We've received several "lag" reports from our TrueWoW players the past weeks, so it's better to investigate whether it's related to the server or to the user's providers.
To that, there are two steps that we can take to check it. Firstly, trace the connection to the server (windows tracert or the sorts of it) and secondly, do .server info in-game and check the "update diff" value.
Any update diff values lower than 100 indicate that the server is not lagging due to hardware lag. In other words, it's network lag, that a restart will not solve.
If we can pinpoint where the issue is, hopefully we'll be able to address it if possible or at least lesser the bothersome demands for restarts that have became an habit.
Regards.

Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
Not sure if this would relate, but I never had these "lag" issues. Instead, I've had more like of random disconnects who leads me to be stuck on reconnecting even after restarting WoW. My solution to it would be to renable the Wifi connection of mine. I only have this issue with the TrueWoW server and I'm pretty active over more communities than this one

Can you do the tests recommended and tell us the results?wari wrote:I confirm, the game became non-playable for me. >:(

Now seeing this thread. I posted in another section and I have been plagued with massive lag and latency.. here's my tracert report

Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
This lag issue is back, and it's again after server has been up for 5+ days with no restart, things feel sluggish like the global cooldown of spells is 1.5s not 1s, last night during raid's 5-6 people noticed things felt slower again.
Id recommend a restart as soon as able to to cure it.

Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
.server info - Update time diff changes from 20-80 to 500 every second for me.
Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
good point, i just made a macro .server info and spammed it and got this:
Update time diff: 29.
Update time diff: 40.
Update time diff: 84.
Update time diff: 466.
Update time diff: 477.
Update time diff: 68.
Update time diff: 32.
Update time diff: 37.
Update time diff: 91.
Update time diff: 507.
Update time diff: 490.
Update time diff: 463.
Update time diff: 120.
Update time diff: 76.
Update time diff: 73.
Update time diff: 47.
Update time diff: 34.
these are the little lag's, i used a spell right when the update time diff was high, and this is the sluggish feeling when spells dont happen instantly, it's server lag, this only happens after the server hasn't been restarted for a few days.

Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
I'm observing the same issue as the two posters above, with update time diff spikes of up to 600. Until these issues are resolved, can there perhaps be an automatic scheduled restart every 3 days or so at a dead hour (if it's not a host issue).
Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
Server uptime: 8 Day(s) 2 Hour(s) 1 Minute(s) 8 Second(s).
Update time diff: 714.
Quite unacceptable, i don't know what is simpler than restarting the server. People have been crying out for a server restart for the past 2 days, Raid's have been abandoned due to lag.
It's been said many times that 4+ days up time and lag happens.
We can't Raid properly due to lag, We can't PVP due to lag, Or not competitively at least.
Please Push this button:
Because with this lag, everybody's time is just getting wasted, if we had known lag was going to be so bad, we would have canceled todays 25hc, luckily we cleared 11/12 bosses, but it took twice as long as when there is no lag, WIping on oozes due to them not being slowed because of lag, Even though they had the slowing debuff etc visually, it was slowed but still moving at full speed.. thats how bad the lag is.

Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
Thank you for restarting the server, As said above it should be scheduled more often 3-4 days, so 3.5 would be kinda perfect.. but for now

Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
It seems that when the server is up for more than 1-2 days I start getting Update time diff values of 50 and then 300-400 again. Can we make some daily server restart at like 4AM or something?
Re: Investigating "lag" Issues
^^
It's just taken a hour to get a raid group together for LK25HC, and we can't even do it due to lag, please restart server ASAP
