This isn't blizz-like, but my bag space is limited (multiple tanking sets) and so I do my best to keep un-needed items out... including Blacksmithing hammers. For just a few coppers, I buy them and discard them as they're needed, but it is a minor inconvenience.

Now there's this unique quest chain for blacksmiths called "Mithril Order" that rewards you with a trinket "Signet of Expertise" which has a use of summoning a "Hammer of Expertise" for one hour. It's a decent enough weapon at level 40, but absolute trash at higher levels. I was wondering if this Hammer of Expertise could have the ability to blacksmith with it. The trinket that summons it has a 3 hour cooldown, and it only stays summoned for 1 hour. It'd be a neat additional flair for blacksmiths (and save me a few coppers to boot).

I did that quest and have that trinket so I tested this and no, after summoning hammer it still says blacksmith hammer required.

This is not asking if it can be used as a blacksmith hammer, this is a suggestion to make it count as a blacksmith hammer.

Get the 32 slot bag from vote points + get a mount which has a vendor (needs gold)+ get a companion pet which acts as a vendor (needs vote points) + get argent gruntling with pony up from argent tournament grounds in icecrown (needs argent currency). Do any one, ideally, two and problem solved!!

Its an interesting change, and so few are aware of the hammer anyway.

yeah, the only thing in your list that's available on primal is the vendor pet for vote points. And even with that its not suppose to be used as a vendor, we just haven't removed that functionality because that's the only thing players use it for lol.

I don't really know how the vendor pet would work anyway? It's not like I'm keeping junk in my bags...

Not worth the effort for something as trivial as saving a few copper and 1 slot in the inventory.
