Well if we could make this so that it only applies to auctions and not sending mail to other players then +1 reason been that there are known problems with action house as believe there are issues sometimes where people loose gold if there is server crash in betwen item been sold and gold arriving similar to how people loose items from ah if an auction should happen to expire while server is not online as expired auctions get deleted at startup.

Yes, this is on point, this is the reason why I said it's not a problem to make the auction money instant as we discussed before. But the idea of having items instant as well was never deliberated over, and personally I wouldn't like it to be smuggled in. I understand that a vast majority wouldn't mind such change, but then again we are just arbitrary removing parts of the game just because they're inconvenient. That opens a dangerous precedent.

Wouldn't it be possible for the items to be lost if you mail it to someone and a crash happens? They appear to use the same logic.

No, because mails are written to database in real time, they're not queued. Also, with the timing it's well likely that the items would be rolled back to the character's inventory. The are certainly chances of inconsistency but items wouldn't be lost.
