Mac Client for Truewow

#1 » Post by Fastor » 06 Feb 2015 14:53

Hello and welcome to this server!

If you are just started playing here, here is what you need to get to play on this server:

First download Client via torrent. http://tiny.cc/TrueWoW
After you download torrent, download this file and put it in same Folder where you downloaded torrent. http://tinyurl.com/Truewow-Mac-app

Drag that WoW icon to your Launcher and you are done!
Just enter your Username and Password and enter Truewow.
If you still dont have it, you can create it here http://www.truewow.org/account-manager

Note 1:

Adding this line in file Config.WTF in folder WTF, on some Macs increase average FPS of game. This also works on Linux.
SET gxApi "OpenGL"
Note 2:

In case WoW would not work (hang more likely), you need to make folder WTF and in it make file Config.WTF. In it you need to have:
SET locale "enUS"
SET realmList "login.truewow.org"
SET hwDetect "0"
SET gxRefresh "60"
SET gxMultisampleQuality "0.000000"
SET gxFixLag "0"
SET videoOptionsVersion "3"
SET movie "0"
SET Gamma "1.000000"
SET readTOS "1"
SET readEULA "1"
SET showToolsUI "0"
SET farclip "777.000000"
SET specular "1"
SET groundEffectDensity "24"
SET projectedTextures "1"

l hope they will, l actually had fun researching this since l never used Mac before.

Long long ago when l still had my Original WoW CDs l remember weird folder that was named World of Warcraft.app, now 12 years later l got idea to check is that folder actually *.app and better to say "starter" for WoW on Mac? Turned out it is. So yea, download Windows client that we have and add Mac file and all set and ready.

BTW thanks to pimpf123 that allowed me to jack into his Mac so l could mess around and do test. ^_^

Please help! I am using osx 10.10.1. I followed your steps and the wow client is running successfully except that I am unable to use addons. I mean there is no addon button on the bottom left corner of my character list even after following the steps given to install addons. I am completely new to wow just started playing this week. Thanks!

I am using same and works fine for me. Did you put addons on ADDON folder? And that folder into Interface?
Some addon have sub folders that should be extracted separately like DBM.

Ok, first of all lets confirm you inserted addons in wow properly.

In folder where is your wow client (one that you downloaded) should be folder Interface.
If there is no folder Interface, make one.
Inside folder Interface should be folder AddOns, if there is no that folder make one.
All your addons you must unpack into folder AddOns to make them work.
Then start wow and see if button exist.

Bumping so two people from world chat would find this topic easily.

Also requesting to add link of Wow.App on download page under torrent link.

I'm using OSX 10.10.3, and the game won't boot. When I click on downloaded app, the screen goes black as if to start the game, the cursor turns to the game cursor, and the screen stays blank. Sometimes the cursor stays, sometimes it disappears. No music either. Have to force quit every time. When I move the launcher app to the applications folder or desktop, I get the "Missing or corrupted data. Failed to open archive interface.MPQ" error message.

Yes, I put the Mac launcher app into the main game folder. Is there supposed to be an interface.MPQ file in the Data or enUS folders?
