Actually it is bugged, not telling that this is that occasion, but saw that on volley the other day. But its kinda hard to explain will make video of it later I guess about how it is bugged, but basically every aoe spell ignores los objects so you can use it through that los object- thats the bug,you shouldnt get hit right behind that pillar if center of aoe isnt BEHIND that pillar,now you can aim your aoe spell IN FRONT OF the pillar and you will hit people behind it-thats bugged as well.

I know it works but I never used because it makes no sense to hit someone who is behind both bridge and a stone, I couldn't imagine that isn't abuse. :)

sfury is only spell which is affected in negative way, I think its because of its stun effect, but all others are bugged in positive way.
