I did it few weeks ago and it worked fine. You sure you can't loot it or you just didn't find them?

Works perfectly fine. I did it on Aztek just before I got 80.

There's only 3-4 spawns or so that I could find, but it's all working flawlessly.

And again, did this quest also yesterday, works perfectly fine, there are 4 spawns for the enchanted earth veins.
