Wait a min, someone summon Prodigy l remember that he was talking something about clients with different other than EN language about four years ago. l know it sounds like long shot but if anyone ask him that lm sure he will remember.
I had no problem playing TW and PW on a russian client other than some things being mysteriously unlinkable into the chat, which is great since no other 3.3.5a server I played on supported that client.

You should probably not have any problems when playing with another client. The catch is that you might not get proper translation for quest text/objectives/dialogues. If Pisunna the russian hacker could play on this server you can do it as well.

Brennus the OP stated multiple times that he does not have the issue on TW. The other poster was saying he had the issue on 3.x servers but not 2.x ones - not that TW was a 2.4.3 server.
Hmm, the way I understood it, @psycroptyk was not having issues with other 2.4.3 servers at all, but did so with Truewow, then I assumed he was using TBC client.

As for @xyzfr, I really could not find anything confirming he was not having issues with TW, that's why I asked.

I'm glad to hear that. :)

At OP @xyzfr
Spoiler:
As @Vaen and @ItchyVortex have noted, clients with locales other than English should have no problem, so the next thing I would check is your WOW client integrity (if your MPQ files are exactly as they should).

It might take a while, but you make a checksum verification.
If you don't know how, use this tool, drag and drop any file, and paste in the "Verify Hash" field the checksum from the table below.
After it calculates, press Verify button and it will tell you if your file is OK.

Keep in mind Windows 10, by default, does not show file extensions, so, instead of seeing (e.g.) expansion.MPQ, you might see just expansion.

Those files can be found inside ...\World of Warcraft\Data\ folder, where ...\World of Warcraft\ is your client's installation folder.

On Windows 10, the default installation directory is either
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\.

As far as I know, translation game files are located inside
  • ...\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS\ (for US English clients)
  • ...\World of Warcraft\Data\enGB\ (for UK English clients)
  • ...\World of Warcraft\Data\deDE\ (for German clients)
  • ...\World of Warcraft\Data\frFR\ (for French clients)
  • ...\World of Warcraft\Data\ptBR\ (for Brazilian Portuguese clients)
  • ...\World of Warcraft\Data\zhTW\ (for Traditional Chinese clients)
  • ...\World of Warcraft\Data\esES\ (for European Spanish clients)
and so on, so it should not affect those checksums.
Sorry for the wall of text :P and I hope that helps you out.
