Disconnecting during RDF
I've done a few back and forths, and Eronox told me to open a thread here, so here goes:
My internet disconnects seemingly randomly from once every half hour to being fine for about 5 hours or so. I get kicked to the WoW login screen where i put my username and password. Usually it takes about 2 or 3 attempts of it saying I cannot connect for it to bring me to the character screen, all pretty normal for a dc.
When this happens in an RDF group, I'll find myself teleported to my hearthstone location (as I've noticed happens to a few other people when they dc or have to exit for given reasons). I'll still technically be in the party according to my party members, but on my screen I'm not. I can get re-invited to the party and then use the teleport to dungeon tool to bring me in, but I'm no longer considered part of the original RDF group, and as such, I don't get the bonus xp/loot bag normally awarded for completing an RDF. I've been offered the solution to try and re-queue into RDF and rejoin the group that way, which seems like it hypothetically would work, but being a DPS class, that seems to never happen to me, and the slot either always goes to someone else first, or I somehow get queued up with a fresh group.
I'm just wondering if there's any way to be re-invited to the original party and RDF group. I've tried being re-invited to the group, and then having the whole group queue up for RDF as a 5 man, but still when we complete the dungeon, I get no bonus reward. Just frustrated because as my disconnects are a seemingly unstoppable/unavoidable occurrence on my end, I'm just doomed to never be able to do RDF reliably.
Eronox asked me about having any custom patches or models, which I'm not really sure of. I'm not super competent with most computer things, but to my knowledge I only downloaded the proper version provided to me by the website. I do have the zygor addon installed, but nothing else at the moment. As fare as firewalls go, I'm pretty sure I just have your basic Windows firewall, and wouldn't really want to shut it off while I play, but if that would work I'm willing to try anything.
Thank you to everyone who has tried to help me so far, my char's name is Stabbymcstab,

Re: Disconnecting during RDF(Eronox)
Also, sorry for having your name in the title Eronox, I only meant to copy/paste it there so I could remember it and later remove it from the title.
Re: Disconnecting during RDF(Eronox)
Well, I don't know how likely your computer is to get "attacked"/suffer from virus but...
Have you tried turning your firewall off - during a whole day or so - and trying to play?
If you still have disconnection issues, then you will know for sure whether your firewall has anything to do with it.
Just a thought I guess.
If you don't know how to, take a look at this.
Mind if I summon Fastor?
He is what we call The Specialist!

Re: Disconnecting during RDF
I have a very similar dc issue and especially frustrating when it happens during RDF and BGs since any previously accumulated honor is reset to 0.
In raids and non-RDF groups, there is no issue, except maybe a need to relog again to get summoned if your corpse can't be found/rezed. I haven't tried tinkering with the firewall, so I'll see if I can get a work around.

Re: Disconnecting during RDF
I tried turning off my firewall last night and played with it off for a few hours, then played again today without having turned it off in between. I'm positive the disconnecting issue is on my side (or internet provider's), I'm just wondering if there's any way to allow rejoining to an RDF (or BG) to restore your eligibility for completion rewards.
Re: Disconnecting during RDF
As far as BG goes, once you got kicked I'm pretty sure you will get deserter debuff, which will prevent you from joining further BGs as long as you have said debuff. However, as soon as your deserter debuff wears off, you are eligible to queue again and you may now get your rewards - remember, they are given to the first BG you win each day.
As for RDFs case, you already said everything I know about its rewards:
- Relogging and asking for an invite could be nice and all, but you still won't get your rewards (Sack of Helpful Goods, Badge of Justice, Emblem of Frost or Emblem of Triumph).
- In case you queue again, you might get a different group, or no group at all...
I'm sorry if I could not bring the news you were waiting for, but unfortunately that's it.
Also, it would be cool if someone could confirm what just said here (even more if it's someone from the staff).
I hope it helps and I wish you good luck - and may Dark Lady watch over your connection from now on

Re: Disconnecting during RDF
The actual group membership is a bug, as far as I know, which does not always occur.spacemanduck wrote: ↑30 Apr 2017 09:38I tried turning off my firewall last night and played with it off for a few hours, then played again today without having turned it off in between. Do you use any Anti-Virus which has its own Firewall?

Re: Disconnecting during RDF
As far as l concern, you people should look at game installed not outside of it. Game is working as long as player is outside of group but once it enter other zone player gets DC, which means something is sending bad signal to server (or server gets bad signal) and force auto logout.
Now we can do several tests including turn off all ALL addons, we rescan game is it whole or there are small broken files, we could move location of WOW from current place on PC to other partition, we could check stupid drivers (l remember problem with one of players where l had to reinstall drivers to make game work properly since drivers had ingame overlay that show FPS, GPU temp and other stuff and we could not turn it off).
In worst case l could find time to step into your PC and check stuff, but for now do what l listed. Really doubt its about firewalls because game would not work at all if it was blocked.
PS dont bother using quotes to notify me since l had them turned off since day one. Use PM.

Re: Disconnecting during RDF
Alright, sorry, didn't know that Fastor.
Back on topic → spacemanduck, are you running Windows, Linux or Mac? Or maybe another system???
Do you know what Checksums are?
If I made a list including all (wow files) checksums, would you be able to check your game?
As per Fastor suggestion, this is just to be sure none of your game files are gone bad (corrupted or the like).

Re: Disconnecting during RDF
Hi,
Goto start -> Open cmd.exe
In cmd.exe you write:
ping google.com -t
Let the ping window just stay open and play until you get disconnected.
When you disconnet open the cmd window and see if google.com still replies.
If you get Request timed out. or If you get high latency(ms) reply from google.com then it's a problem with you ISP(or problem locally on your machine).
If you have another computer on the same network/internet connection you can start ping from that Client aswell.
If both clients gets Request timed out. Or high ms, then you are sure that it's your ISP!
