Wi-Fi limited access

#1 » Post by blagovest_tonev » 08 Sep 2016 09:22

Hello,

I began to experience strange connection problems this morning. I re-downloaded the game, because I had a new HDD and more RAM installed last night, so wanted to spend some time in-game, but it just won't let me. I am getting constant disconnects with my Wi-Fi connection going to "limited access". I thought it might be from the client I downloaded earlier, so I decided to try the TW client (the link from the front page), but beginning the download in UTorrent led to another disconnect of my Wi-Fi connection, "limited access" again.
My connection works perfectly outside the game, I am currently downloading the game without any problems. I haven't done any changes to my router settings. I would love to have your support in fixing this strange issue.

Best regards!

It's just a wild guess, but since you now got WoW on a different drive than your OS, maybe this is causing some firewall issues? Not sure why it would disconnect you from the network, but again a wild guess.

Try running it as an administrator or try moving it to the same drive as the OS.

To bypass firewall: http://www.worldstart.com/how-to-set-up ... xceptions/ -- Keep in mind that is for Vista?, so the way around it might be different now.

I just had another connection drop while browsing the forum. Currently downloading the game, will try to run it as Administrator once being downloaded.

It has to be unrelated to the client then.

OT:

New HDD is ur issue. Whats ur OS?
I'd say reinstall your network drivers, uninstal through devicemanager

Edit: how i know it could be disk? Well, first off i study IT. Secondly, google is power

.

Okay, tried to following without good results.

- Turned off Windows Firewall.
- Turned off AVG.
- Ran WoW as Administrator.

Eronox, I'll need your knowledge on this. But how could I download 35 GB in torrents, if drivers weren't ok? And I seem not to have any problems with other sites out of the game?

I confirm it happens in other servers too, so it's not a problem with this server. It's most likely a driver issue, just like Eronox said. I'll get a friend to check on drivers and stuff. Thanks for the fast support.

Err, if everything worked perfectly prior to changing your HDD and RAM, it's most likely one of those that causes these disconnects. But it's really weird. Driver reinstall might help, I guess.

P2p (torrent) connections are handled differently than http requests etc. so it might be possible torrent for hours without issues.

Does your new hdd hold your:
1) OS
2) browser
3) wow client
4) torrent client
?

Do you actually lose your internet connection? Or can you reconnect to other sites immediately when you get 'limited access'.

Can you post the results of 'tracert truewow.org' in cmd?

That's all I can come up with right now.

[hide]Oh, can you try connecting to another wow private server as well with your client? To check if the issue is related to Truewow alone or other servers as well.[/hide]

My HDD holds all the things you asked about. When I get that "limited access", I don't have internet on the laptop, but everything is ok on phones, connected to the same router. A simple disconnect-connect fixes the connection for the laptop. Yes, it's the same in other servers too.
C:\Windows\system32>tracert truewow.org

I don't have good knowledge about this stuff, but I get the issue everytime I login in-game. Happend twice out of the game - when I tried to download the client from here, and while browsing the forum.

Because downloading, browsing and Game gets handled in different ways

What OS are you using now? Was it the same on previous disk too?

Can you give me the name of the network card through devicemanager?
