Tips for making money as a lowbie?

When I started playing retail WOW in '05, I had several friends playing already who tossed me a couple gold to get me started. Every time I made an alt I would mail him some bags and gold. I've never really had to start from scratch money-wise, and it's tougher than I expected. I'm level 9 and am already having trouble scraping together enough silver to train spells, let alone profs. The primal AH is pretty barren, so the garbage greens and low level mats I've found aren't selling.

Is this just the way it goes starting fresh, or am I missing out on a method to build up cash that I never had to figure out before?

Bags for grabbing loots, vendors for selling it. I'm lvl 7 and I got 50s by now...
