Recruit-a-Friend Updates: Experience Gains Re-Imagined for All Players!


We know there are quite a few people out there who want to take advantage of the leveling bonus Recruit-a-Friend offers but have trouble doing so. Some people don't want to wait the required time before inviting friends to join them; others do not have friends to recruit at all. Some members of the community have even recruited themselves to bypass the current leveling rates. It's all quite a shame, but a solution is already here! In order to smooth out such issues and increase accessibility to our realms, the former Recruit-A-Friend bonus is now accessible universally in the form of an optional rate system.



Instead of the XP boost applying only to level 1-50 for those RAF players near each other, we now have optional leveling rates for all players. The available rates to choose from will be 0.5 (for players who like to role play, or take content at a slower pace), 1 (for players who like things the way they always have been), 2 (for players who want to cut some corners), and 3 (for players who just want to get to the end-game raiding and PvP!). You can pick one rate and stick to it all the way up, or change rates at will. Rates will be set immediately, on a player by player basis, using the following command: .settings rates <XP rate>
For those familiar, this should be similar to enabling trasmogging.
The server leveling rates are still default at 1x.
All other rules for the Recruit-A-Friend system will remain intact (special mount reward included!). One new bonus available to Recruit-A-Friend exclusively, to replace the lost uniqueness of the 3x experience rate bonus, will be a 75 Participation Token reward for both recruiter and recruitee.



Ress-A-Friend: December 22nd

We know a lot of you have either brought a friend here and failed to keep them around, or made friends here who, for one reason or another, have left. In order to reward players using word of mouth to bring back old players, we will be adding a Resurrect-A-Friend system alongside the updated Recruit-a-Friend system and optional rate system. Ress-A-Friend will only work on players who have been inactive for 6+ months. If you have such a friend you'd like to resurrect, you will be able to earn some IBT and maybe even bonus experience for the two of you after playing a battleground, dungeon, raid, or arena together. Plans for this are still in development but are expected to release on December 22nd.

Being able to set your experience rate was such an awesome idea!

I have a question though:

0.5 / 1 / 2 / 3 are the only options? Is it fixed exactly like that?
Or can I get any numeric value between 0.5 - 3?

E.G.: Can I set my Exp Rate to 0.75???

Cool, now leveling alts won't drag so much when I'd rather just get them to Outland.

Are there any effects on rep gain? Or is it still the standard 1x?

Every other rates are still 1x. What changed really was that the bonus from RaF was made available to everyone, no other external changes really. :P

If the increased or decreased XP is enabled, is it for that particular character only or is it for the "account"?

And; (Not having checked yet in appropriate forum), is this added as a disqualifier for Ironman Contender or is it allowed?

1) Per character

2) Yes, it will disqualify you. The same way as using RaF would otherwise disqualify you from participating in the challenge.

will this stay while we progress to/during wotlk too or it might get disabled in the future?

It will be disabled once Primal goes to WotLK and there is "leveling progression"/competition again.

Another quick question: The XP boots does not apply while running dungeons/instances, right?

if it is like they say just the Recruit a Friend benefits being made available to everyone it should indeed apply to dungeons and everything else

I remember when i suggested this towards the end of nilla phase and got shot down QQ. Still tho it would be nice to get into leveling my 90000000000 alts. Thanks guys.

Very nice, but can we have in-game announcement every now and then saying that these rates exist? or maybe upon log in?
