Our first big patch: Onyxia & Zul'Gurub

#1 » Post by Roel » 02 Sep 2015 12:00

Onyxia has been downscaled to a 40 man level 60 raid. The attunement Drakefire Amulet is required and can be obtained through the original quest chain.

Zul'Gurub has been added before Blackwing Lair because of the lower drops and to have a 20 man raid sooner. Note that 20 man raids reset every 3 days instead of 7 days. The raid involves quite a lot of scripting so if you find any bugs, please report them at the Bugtracker. The forums are not counted as bug reports, only for discussion.

Please don't make reports for high damage. The raids have been released highly buffed to really make sure that they are not too easy, one shots may still be an issue with the best gear. Nerfs will depend on wipe information for both raids individually which should be provided here. In the worst case, the first small nerf will be done after the first week.

A lot of solo content has also been added in the form of quests and vendor items, you can find a full list here. This also means that the first 3 pieces of Dungeon Set 2 are already available although they were originally added in a later patch.

For PvP all Vanilla items have been added to the PvP vendors including the individual BG vendors. Rating requirements have been removed from all blue gear.

Would it be possible for ZG raid quest "A Collection of Heads" [8201] to also be made available a bit early since ZG is out?

We're having issues in Zul'Gurub where the increased mana costs are applying to dps classes. I suppose its meant to only apply to the healers.

Prime, just one question. Is it gonna be Vanilla Ony or Woltk Ony? There are a couple of different aspects so i want to be sure about what to say to our raiders.

Thanks!

Said it won't be happening. Some other compromise might be implemented in the future. For now... enjoy the increased PvP b/c of all the new rewards!

It's meant to apply to everyone. But like mentioned, the buff will need to be nerfed and only full 20 man raids can determine how difficult bosses are.

The encounter should be more similar to WotLK Ony but there will be no Onyxian Lair Guards in phase 2. Other than that, I am sure strategies will be adjusted based on wipe analysis.

No test was promised. Like mentioned by most people, even if there will be a test it would be better suited at a different time than raid releases.

I think some additional scripting is required, so it's gonna be released soon... :)

Can the Argent Dawn rare items also be made available (now that you can get the epics)?

Edit: btw the Darkmoon Faire limited item vendor sells tbc items.

There is a major issue with the debuff applying to all DPS classes as you have Warriors and Rogues not affected by it. This will result in caster classes being sat over melee in progression content and favors melee heavy compositions. This makes borderline viable classes like Protection paladin, moonkin, and ele shaman completely nonviable during progression. I'm not sure if this is what you intended when you implemented the debuff, but it is hurting your guilds and community more than it is adding challenge to the content.

Keep the mana debuff for healers, get rid of it for DPS.
