Shadowmeld

#1 » Post by Floss » 04 Apr 2014 22:37

just wanna ask , the fact that it doesn't remove combat is a bug or that's how it should be?

i would really love it to be able to remove combat .
idk about Nelfs in general but it helps rogues alot in pvp.

Its completely broken in pvp, sometimes you arent in combat, use shadowmeld and it adds combat... It should allways take you out of it.

afaik it shouldn;t break combat... reading the tooltip, it just drops all threat you have, but upon exiting shadowmeld, it should restore all threat... kind of like fade for priest... or invisiblity for mage?
point is... it should make you invisible in pvp, but it shouldn;t allow you to restealth before the 5 seconds of no dmg thing

I can also link some videos from retail 3.3.5, i am sure Shadowmeld is supposed to remove you from combat instantly in PvP, and you should be able to use it as a "Vanish".

It should work that way on PvE, on PvP just cleans up combat... if I got it right.

Patch 3.0.8 (2009-01-20): This ability will now properly restore threat when it is canceled. In addition, it will correctly remove a player from combat if it is active when that player is the last person left alive that the creature hates. This ability is now also unusable while affected by Faerie Fire.

At this moment it does exactly the opposite , it removes combat on pve and keeps it on pvp. sucks imo...

I am pretty sure Blackluster is correct, it was removed few patches ago (3.1.3 maybe? No?) so that Shadowmeld does not break combat when used in PvP. The normal combat timer of 5.5 sec should apply to it. I know it used to be a Vanish option for druids, but if I recall right there were many ferals QQing over the fix..
Just keep using it, I do it all the time and people AoE the ground somewhere else thinking I used Vanish and ran that way..

AJ != AT :roll:

As such AJ is a credible source while AT is not.

The only credible source is retail. AT being a private server will never be accepted as a credible source for "how things should work", there were numerous inconsistencies and bugs on AT and some exist to this day, its not perfect.

These people who replied in AJ threads are s6/7 retail glads, so I have no doubt they know what they are saying, but its up to our staff to decide how credible that is.

I can concur that shadowmeld is a legitimate way to drop combat, as I have read many posts and seen many videos about druids and rogues using it for the purpose. Also, in the previous server in which I played, I could use shadowmeld to this advantage.

From what i remember it was stealth nerfed sometime around season 6. There were no official patch notes, but it stopped acting like a vanish and wouldnt break combat if your partner was in combat. Can you post links to those retail videos?
