Healing Spec
Healing Spec
This is what I was using before the nerf to pw:s
http://wotlk.openwow.com/talent#bA0buhh0oZctxcc0qm
I've been thinking of changing to something like this, but I'm not sure if mental strength/enlightenment are better than spiritual guidance/spirtual healing. I also thought grabbing PI to use on myself before a round of dispels or renews might be nice.

What is everyone else using?

Re: Healing Spec
I've start play in this server only 3-4 days ago, so idk what are nerf-boost they had done, the weakining was really strong? cs i pref you first spec (i've only change desperate p. wiht -2% dmg taken)
Re: Healing Spec
With PW:S rescaled now it's better to be holy. That second holy spec you got should work out fine, if not I would spend the extra 2 points and get Lightwell.
Re: Healing Spec
With my gear with buffs
5pts in mental strength = 15mp5, 800 mana
3pts in enlightenment = 13 mp5, 6% haste
Do you think that outweighs
spiritual guidance = 78 spell power
spiritual healing = 8% healing
5pts in mental strength = 15mp5, 800 mana
3pts in enlightenment = 13 mp5, 6% haste
Do you think that outweighs
spiritual guidance = 78 spell power
spiritual healing = 8% healing
Re: Healing Spec
Foremost, your calculations above are not really representative of what you should actually be considering. The 15 mp5 and 13 mp5 gained from those talents are when you are not casting--you should be focusing on mp5 while casting. How do I know? A 15 mp5 gain from 15% intellect, while casting, requires 800 base intellect (800 x .15 / 8 = 15; the 8 represents the amount of intellect you need to get 1 mp5 casting when specced into meditation). So you are either getting 7.5 mp5 casting, or more likely 6.6 mp5 casting if your mana gained more accurately represents your intellect boost (53.3 int / 8 = 6.666 mp5).mogra wrote:With my gear with buffs

Same thing with 6% spirit, 13 mp5 gain is not when casting, as that would mean you have 866 spirit (866 x .06 / 4 = 13). Accordingly, you probably are gaining 6.5 mp5 casting. However, that seems slightly off, though I don't know your character name, as that suggests you have 433 spirit--that's a lot. But anyway, let's assume 6.5 mp5 is accurate. But, don't forget Spirit of Redemption, which gives 5% spirit, so the trade off is really a little more than 1 mp5 and 6% haste.
So, for the first part:
Mental strength = 7.5 or 6.6 mp5 gain
Enlightenment = ~1.1 mp5 and 6% haste gain
Next, you should choose 5/5 spiritual healing and 4/5 spiritual guidance if you go with your presently linked holy spec. 2% healing increase is generally better than the additional 16 sp (78 sp @ 25% - 62 @ 20%) you get currently. Healing increase applies to total healing (including sp) and not just on base healing range of the spell. Additionally, 2% is not affected by varying spell coefficients like sp does. That and given the fact that greater heal is generally your go-to spell, 2% healing is by default better at the moment. Obviously, need to reevaluate as gear is adjusted, but that's my advice on that end.
Are you horde or ally? If ally, I would forego 3 points in Absolution and instead get Lightwell and either 2/2 Healing Prayers or 2/2 Surge of Light. The only real fight that you need Absolution for is Luci and now Garr, but Paladin cleanses are more efficient and thus should be the primary dispellers, or, at worst, alleviate your mana problems with their own dispels. If horde, Absolution is fine.
With that said, Holy is a much more efficient spec, imo. A gain of 7.7-8.6 mp5 and 6% haste with your gear does not offset 10% healing (or 8% if you disagree with above) and 20-25% spirit-to-sp boost. As a NE Priest, I currently run this spec: http://wotlk.openwow.com/talent#by0bu0hZcxtcc0aiz. I am planning on testing Healing Prayers next--I think it will be really good and really useful for many fights (PoH is theoretically the most efficient heal if there's a good spread of AE damage, so it's specifically great on Luci, Gehennas, Golemagg [to a degree], Domo and Rag).
Re: Healing Spec
Ahh, yeah I do see where I made the mistake of not taking into consideration while casting mana regen. So obviously I would have to halve that. I'm horde and my unbuffed stats right now are 277int 233spi, The calculations I did were:
(without mp5 from items)
base buffed regen = 5*(0.001+sqrt((277+31+10)*1.10)*(233+40+10)*1.10)*0.010999*0.6 = 192.11
w/mental str regen = 5*(0.001+sqrt((277+31+10)*1.10*1.15)*(233+40+10)*1.10)*0.010999*0.6 = 206.02 (+13.91)
w/enlightenment = 5*(0.001+sqrt((277+31+10)*1.10*1.15)*(233+40+10)*1.10*1.06)*0.010999*0.6 = 218.38 (+12.36)
So it would be +7 and +6
In terms of enlightenment vs spirit of redemption, I was planning on getting both, so it wouldn't negate the spirit gain from enlightenment.
For 2% healing vs 16sp given a base sp of 400
Greater heal is 1966-2194 + 1.6114 * 400 = 2610-2838
+16sp is 1966-2194 + 1.6114 * 416 = 2636-2864
+2% heal is (1966-2194 + 1.6114 * 400)*1.02 = 2662-2895
So the 2% heal over 5% more sp from spirit does seem like the better choice.
Thanks for the help!

Re: Healing Spec
As i see it, we have two specs. Either.
http://www.truewow.org/armory/talentcal ... ,0,0,0,0,0
Or
http://www.truewow.org/armory/talentcal ... ,0,0,0,0,0
As you might notice, they are very simular with the exeption of soul warding and holy concentration. When it comes to spirit of redemtion and lolwell, i mean lightwell, iv'e never been a huge fan of those. SoR has always seem to short and with lightwell, how can i be sure that stupid people will click it? So, with theese two specs, either you go with somewhat better shields or with higher mana reg.
I would gladly see someone test theese two in both MC and BWL since im in progress to level my priest up. Or if you wanna discuss them.

Re: Healing Spec
None of those specs are possible on Primal wow. Good job...

Re: Healing Spec
That was a little harsh, Kronik.
To the poster above, you can only go as far as the original 31pt talent in each tree (power infusion or lightwell). Good luck leveling!

Re: Healing Spec
Tell me where I have gone past the 31 talents. Holy concentration is on the same level as lightwell, which you should be able to spec right? If not, the first spec never get to the 31 talents, why wouldnt that work? Oh btw. Its done on the armory talent tree calc on this website, which they have cut past the 31 talents. It would be alittle more nice of you if you can explain instead why it doesnt work. Thanks for your time.
Re: Healing Spec
it is locked to lightwell only. even enh shamans can't take dual wield instead of stormstrike.
Re: Healing Spec
Ok. I did not know that. I feel kinda misguided on the calculator, and the trees got alot less awesome. But, the other spec with soul warding should work right?
Re: Healing Spec
you are only limited by available talent points and one preset 31st talent from each tree.
I think not much changed since I did PvE, but lightwell was a big must for a priest. it is mana efficient. Im not sure if it is a problem now, when content was nerfed and its so easy to get major mana potions.

Re: Healing Spec
Correct - that is a valid build. I'm not a priest so I can't tell you if it's a good one or not.Rymdgubbe wrote:Ok. I did not know that. I feel kinda misguided on the calculator, and the trees got alot less awesome. But, the other spec with soul warding should work right?
Re: Healing Spec
It's not. Shield doesn't count towards to healing meter so theres no way people would use it kappa
