Hunter's pet damage
Hunter's pet damage
hi, i just wanted to know (before oppening a ticket on the bugtracker) if is ok that my pet abilities (i'm lvl 42) do very low damage. Is it bugged in this server?
Re: Hunter's pet damage
I've never noticed pets damage being bugged, abit on the low side, yeah, but not bugged, if in BM spec, than pets damage would be decently high, it's also all dependent on the pet, tenacity is a tank, HP and defense, low damage, ferocity, high damage, low defense and HP, and cunning, PvP pets, might be dependent on your pet

Re: Hunter's pet damage
Which pet you are using right now?
Re: Hunter's pet damage
Well retail numbers from wotlk spreadsheets show that BM was 2-3k behind MM if I´m not mistaken. Here its significantly more. At least thats my experience from raiding times as BM (had devilsaur that is considered best BM dps pet for raiding+pet food that gives 30 or 40 str) so I think that either its terrible pet scaling or sth is still bugged in BM spec...

Re: Hunter's pet damage
The problem isnt any particular pet type...The problem is tragic pet scaling in this core. Sure wolf will do more dps than any boar but its pet scaling that is wrong...

Re: Hunter's pet damage
Boar eh? Tank pet, lower damage, higher defense and HP, a wolf, or cat, or ravager would do more damage

Re: Hunter's pet damage
for a start try taming a wolf...also using proper ferocity pet build is important to maximise dps potentional of your pet...if u want to test pet dmg around lvl 60 tame some exotic ones (devilsaur from ungoro/higher lvls from scholazar basin/ should make difference in dmg)...below lvl 70 basically all 3 hunter specs should do nice dmg (though if u want to squeeze max dmg from your pet BM is the way to go)...

Hi, thanks all for the replyes.

Re: Hunter's pet damage
the problem with such huge differencies in pet dmg is blizzard´s fault (not only failed to balance 3 hunter specs but also dps of pets is different)...thus wolf is best decision in terms of dps number...other pets fall behind it...some only a little...some by huge numbers that your overall dps will fall behind other players...this pretty much changed in cataclysm where all pets do more or less some damage and you pick pet based on raid buffs...for ex. shaman wasnt only class bringing heroism to raids...mages too...and BM hunters received a ticket to raids due to core hound pet giving heroism to raid (plus there are other changes but im sticking to pet topic now) while that pet did comparable dps as any other pet. Or if your pet missed dk u could call other pet to supply raid with that buff (as since cata u can call pet1,pet2.pet3 etc)...so after all...i know that many hunters would like to play with this or that pet...but when it comes to raiding or lust for high numbers u will end up with wolf (ferocity) if u really want to shine in dps numbers...but as u say you are around lvl 40 so thats close future for u perhaps...

Re: Hunter's pet damage
This, exactly. It's pitiful, 30k health hunters with 17k health pets, not inheriting hit as expertise, terribly low damage and more.Rascall wrote:The problem is tragic pet scaling in this core.
People could refer to this link to see how pet scaling should be. https://bigredrhino.wordpress.com/pet-stats/
Some notes on that link by the way:
This article was written before patch 3.3, when pets were only inheriting 40% of the hunter's resilience instead of 100%. It was buffed on patch 3.3.
"Patch 3.3.0 (08-Dec-2009): Hunter pets now have 100% of their master's resilience; increased from 40%."
Also, devs might be following the character stat page on how much stamina the pet inherits and think 45% stated on the article is wrong. WoWpedia states "1 stamina gives 0.45 stamina untalented (erroneously reported as 0.3 stamina in the Hunter's stamina tooltip), or 0.63 stamina with 2/2 [Wild Hunt]). " http://wow.gamepedia.com/Hunter_pet#Pet_scaling
I'm sure scaling issues like these exist for warlock and DK pets as well.
Re: Hunter's pet damage
Warlock pets are mostly fine except for their skill behavior (but all pets are bugged in this sense). DK ghouls still have an auto-claw cast bug and are getting 2 AP per str instead of just 1.I'm sure scaling issues like these exist for warlock and DK pets as well.
Hunters' pets are for some reason the only ones whose stamina is to this day still bugged, as you can see on this report and the image album I posted on its Notes: http://www.truewow.org/bugs/view.php?id=97 (maybe it will get fixed thanks to not being too far from longest standing bug or something lol). Their AP seems mostly fine.
Re: Hunter's pet damage
I would contest this claim but I need to gather more reliable sources on pet's actual AP values and damage back in retail. There are also talents that affect pet AP that are bugged here like Animal Handler and maybe Wild Hunt (I haven't tested Wild Hunt though) so it's not entirely fine.Vaen wrote:Their AP seems mostly fine.
