[Guild Thread] We are "of the Horde"

#1 » Post by untamedShuhalo » 08 Apr 2016 03:52

Next Scheduled Meeting; unscheduled (Fray Island)

Apologies to my fellow guildmates, I've been having a bit of IRL issues that have been keeping me offline. Hopefully things will calm down by the end of next week :/

Our Guild is focused around RolePlaying our various characters in the context of community, racial/cultural equality and support, and overall wishing our members to enjoy themselves. We accept Blood Elves, Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, and Undead into our ranks, and all are to be treated with the respect that you wish to be given.

While we will strive to have In-Character meetings, we understand (as well as have experienced it ourselves) that there are times when you just aren't feeling it but wish to participate, either via Guild Chat during the meeting or simply being there as scheduled. This is fine, and we certailny do not pressure anyone to be IC at all times, in fact OOC times can be extraordinarily fun as well. We are a RP Guild, but will also focus on dungeons, PvE, and, if possible, PvP and Raids. Events and Meetings will be the core of Guild participation, but we will not limit ourselves or our members from enjoying as many aspects of the game as we can.

We've decided your in-game name does NOT need to be IC, but please let us know what name your character would ICly go by, what you prefer to be called, etc.

Current Guild Hub; Fray Island (south-east of Ratchet)
Council Members; Lyanara, Oggudrai, Leander (in need of belf/orc)
Officers; n/a
~ you must ask/apply for a Council position, and at this time Officers are being determined by level of commitment and assistance. But we are always wanting to add more :3
~ we are hoping to add Mentors (PvP/Raids) so please let us know if you're interested in that

When you're first brought in you are Initiate Rank, until your first meeting, where you'll be promoted to Member.
Alts are accepted but are place in their own ranking of the guild so that we know if someone is participating in a meeting on an alt rather than their main guild character.
Anyone who does not log-in on ANY of their characters for 20 consecutive days (without letting anyone know) will have their main be demoted to Initiate. After that, if no log-ins are shown for another 10 consecutive days, you risk being removed from the Guild entirely, to include any Alts.

~ Rules ~
- though they're general guidelines more than anything -
  • OOC banter and such goes to the Guild Chat, please :3

Arguing in Guild Chat is frowned on, please work it out privately or take it to an Officer or Council member.

If you are having problems with any other member(s), let an Officer or Council member know.

Be respectful of one another, even when you have differing opinions. We are here to work together and have fun

If you are able and willing to assist, by all means offer!
[hide="RP Section"]
  • IC issues are handled by the Council during meetings

Godmodding/Meta are bad for group roleplay dynamics, please do your best to avoid it

Try to be lore friendly, don't powerplay, don't hog attention - RP is a team effort
We'll work out a system for /roll on any IC combat (non PvP, just written) that keeps it balanced and fair, while also keeping note of each character's class strengths/weaknesses and level adjustments, etc[/hide]

[hide="Character Links"]Lyanara
Oggudrai[/hide]

(Post can and will change as needed)

Do the blood elves in the guild speak with the thalassian chat option? I've always found that the horde elves speaking in orcish was the most retarded thing blizz could have done with lore (I totally get it from a gameplay mechanic point of view)

It's just hard to imagine a fucking blood elf as prideful as they are lorewise saying ZUG ZUG DABU. lel

First off, for the sake of getting a better idea of the concept and some of the ideas we have in mind; I'd just like to provide a link to the introductionary thread we had going while looking for members to help us create the guild:
We'll be updating this thread with more information asap so that everything you'll need to know can be found right here :D

@Marisco

We just got started last night pretty much, so we only have one Blood Elf so far.

But at any rate, for practical reasons when interacting as a whole (IC guild meetings and events for instance) obviously the various members will have to speak a common tongue, IC'ly and OOC'ly. Personally I somewhat disagree it's too farfetched for them to speak Orcish; while prideful the Blood Elves are also clearly pragmatic, so they'd no doubt have learnt and spoken Orcish for the sake of diplomacy, or at least etiquette. That said, I can understand why you feel it would appear silly, but luckily all we're seeing from our perspective is a bunch of fantasy races speaking (relatively) plain english; hopefully that can be enough to suspend your disbelief, If not perhaps you could pretend they/we speak "Kalimdoran (http://wow.gamepedia.com/Kalimdoran). While the RPG books are considered non-canon, we're likely going to have to borrow or take inspiration from it at times for the sake of fleshing out certain activities in our RPing to compensate for official lore that's lacking in detail.

Beyond that, the Sin'dorei among our ranks are of course going to be free to use whatever language they see fit if they're muttering to themselves or interacting with members of their own race and prefer to do so in Thalassian. Of course this counts for every other member speaking privately to another member of their own race.

In some cases I expect it will be quite necessary, particularly for the Forsaken or maybe even Trolls, since we wish to take into account the races as faithfully as possible we won't eschew the more dubious aspects of their cultures so long as they're handled in a believable and subtle manner. Do note that a character who engages in things that the Horde as a whole isn't comfortable with isn't incompatible with our guild despite its stated concept being about unity, but a requirement is that they are, despite their tendencies, either loyal to the Horde (out of convenience or genuine attachment, though the latter certainly will make things easier for that particular char to have IC reasons to attend most interactions and/or events we hope to organize) or at least convincingly pretend like they are ;)

Are you guys starting from level 1? Also would you accept a primarily alliance player to join you(obviously I'd create a horde character :D)?

Thanks Sindora! To answer your question, no not yet, sadly, we barely have every race represented to be quite honest. It's been a busy couple of days so UTShuhalo/Lya hasn't been able to be online much, and we pretty much need to co-operate a little on certain choices, we're also needing to crack down on a few things, just information and details about rules and so on and so forth, but we're planning a gathering on sunday, hopefully we can get a few more people joining by then :)

Speaking of which, thanks for posting Shaun, and to answer your question as well, we're very grateful for your interest and we'd be honoured if you were to join us :) we haven't gotten very far levelwise, and most of our members are around the mid-20s and 30s (again, levelwise) so you wouldn't have a hard time catching up. Heck you might just surpass me and Lyanara :P But of course, your level won't be an issue for just RPing with us, we are situated on Fray Island but we'd be happy to escort you there if you're a bit low level to risk the mobs on the way there on your own. Alternatively we can look into having the first meeting in Orgrimmar, I'll run that by Lya when I have the opportunity.

But yes, we'll probably be on a little bit later this evening, can't promise anything but there's a possibility :)

Edit:

OP's been updated! :D

Thanks for your reply! This is epic, I have always been interested in roleplaying on wow, however I've never come across a guild that intends to take it as seriously as your guild does. Unfortunately, I was not at home last night to see your post, but I will definitely login this evening, and whisper one of you!

Just to give you a bit of a background on me, I've played on truewow (including the breaks) since 2010 or so. I play mostly alliance, and my main focus for the good part of 3 years has been PVP. This does not necessarily mean I am wrathful gladiator material(or any title for that matter) but I enjoy it very much.

When I choose which race I would like to play, I normally take into account the PVP benefits above the PVE. Taking this into account, I will most likely end up playing a blood elf or a troll, and will play a mage or a paladin (depending on what the guild is looking for.

To close off, I will take this venture as seriously as you do, and think that I will take my time in levelling to 80 (I have lots of alliance 80s, and most were admittedly rushed to maximum level). I intend to enjoy this as much as possible :D

Your post just makes me straight up smile Shaun ^_^ Your enthusiasm is infectuous! Just from what I've learnt about you through your posts, I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know you better.

But yes, though we're primarily RP, we're wishing to indulge in gameplay and content in general when people feel like hanging out as a guild in dungeons, battlegrounds and/or eventually, raids. However, we're going to be a somewhat "casual" guild and we don't want to restrict people's choices, so you just roll whichever class interests you the most ;)

This of course also counts for whichever race you want your character to be (I'd adore more Trolls, but that's cus I'm a hopeless Troll fanboy xP). I do think we have at least one character of every race represented, we're hoping to keept it relatively even, but just go for whatever you'd like! Hopefully I don't sound condescending with this; but just as well as what calls to you in gameplay, It's equally as important that you consider which race/class that resonnates with you and that you'd have fun with exploring in roleplay. I'd just like to put that out for anyone interested that hasn't experienced roleplay or a roleplaying guild in the past.

Me and Lya are discussing and working out things like the structure of the guild and rules and such that we're going to lay out in detail hopefully by the end of the week (sorry we're slow, work is keeping her quite busy recently). Personally I was thinking of putting up a post to provide a creative framework for the guild, just some common ground in terms of lore and how to interpret that for continuous, immersive roleplay given that we're "stuck" pre-cataclysm. I'd like to hear if people find this redundant or not, but I'm entertaining the thought for the benefit of potential members that are just getting into RP but haven't versed themselves particularly in the lore up until then.

Along with this I'm going to try and put up a few links of roleplaying guides that's been helpful for me in the past (both back when I was fresh to it but also later on, for the sake of researching for a race/class I haven't RP'ed before), since I haven't seen anything similar on the RP forums so far.

With that "update" out of the way, I'd just like to say that we're happy to have you on board, and definitely going to try and be available for you! With that in mind, if you don't mind me asking, what timezone are you in? Me and Lya mostly operate within the Eastern timezone of the US (though I personally live in scandinavia), just wanna make sure we don't miss out on you :)

It all sounds very exciting Zulphiliac!

I live in South Africa, so I believe I'm in the same time zone as Sweden, etc. It looks as if I'll only be able to join you and Lya on weekends then?

I actually don't mind what I play (as long as its not a warlock, they're so boring for me xd), and if the guild needs healers or tanks, then I'd prefer to help out with that rather than just being a solely damage class.

Your suggestion with regards to a complete, continuous and immersive roleplay is great, and I'll +1 that for sure just because it will help others who may have not had any form of experience like this in the past. I know a lot of the general lore that leads up to Warcraft 3 and thereafter, but obviously the guild will have its own lore and I'm always interested in things like this.

I'll be logging in the following 5 minutes or so, just to begin making my character, who should I whisper if I want an invite to the guild?

Uh-oh, I'm a little behind on this I suppose? =/

I can get on right away, you can contact "Oggudrai" for an invite.

As for the time zone, well, I'm in Norway specifically... We're kind of in the middle of figuring out how to deal with the various times people have to deal with, but most of our meetings and events we'll attempt to have in the weekends, but beyond that we try to be flexible.

Thanks for your feedback otherwise ^_^

  • Lyanara Redwind Lie-a-nar-a
Female Adult Tauren, Beast Mastery Hunter
    6 hours behind server time

Just noticeably shorter than the average female tauren, Lya's coat is various shades of cinnamon-brown, and her long mane is slightly darker, braided up out of her sky-blue eyes. Her smooth horns are shaped more akin to a ram's, and curve up alongside her jawline; the left horn bears a snugly fitting gold ring on the lower front. Her build suggests one accustomed to running, the thighs more muscular than usual, and the torso built smoothly. Her hooves are narrower and her tail longer than average.
(does NOT have the white markings as she does in-game)

Often she's seen wearing a mix of soft and studded leathers, carrying a pale-wood longbow and sturdy hand axes. Always in the company of her blue-grey wolf, Spectre, or her pale hyena, Shinzi. (yet to be obtained in game) Her mount, Ashker, is a massive red worg.

  • Oggudrai of the Darkspear
Male adult Troll, aspiring Enhancement Shaman

Mostly akin to an average Darkspear in physical build, the turquoise Troll is deceptively tall despite his hunched posture and boasts dense musculature that only appears less powerful and imposing due to his lanky proportions. How he earned this fitness can be discerned by the weapons he readily carries upon his person, whether it be hefty axes and maces or deadly daggers and fist-weaponry, always paired with a shield. Whatever parts of his skin that is shown between regions of hide-fashioned armour reveal little else than individually unremarkeable, but numerous enough scars to speak of his fighting experience. His fierce, prominent tusks and stark red eyes are the facial features that stand out the most from his youthful face; painted black and white for war. Upon eyecontact, a humility and occasional tinge of gentleness belies his savage exterior.
Edit:

Sorry for the radio silence peeps, a few things have been going on for us IRL and it hasn't left us a lot of time in-game nor on these forums.

Edit 2:

Again, sorry for our lacking presence and our silence lately, UTshuhalo's health just doesn't allow her to be in-game without being in considerable pain these days and that's why there's been no activity lately. Once more, we apologize.
