Slightly increase aggro range in RDF / RHC

#1 » Post by Toughy » 06 Oct 2014 01:40

In several RDF / RHC instances it is at certain points possible to hug a wall or stairs to go around and skip mobs that would otherwise be in the way. While I am aware everyone is happy to skip mobs in RHCs where they no longer give any XP, I believe this is not blizzlike, and in an RDF the XP gain is still there.

Examples include Ingvar, Skadi (Ymiron) and Pit of Saron instances. Also going around Hadronox to skip him is something I can't quite see as blizzlike.

I believe a slightly increased aggro range, just enough so you can no longer hug wall and skip, would be the expected fix.

Not related to the aggro range itself but the creature's model bounding radius, thus not an applicable suggestion.

Moved to bug discussions.

I think that this may meet with criticism among many players. I personally did it many times and I dont feel bad with it at all.

Since we're trying to stay as blizzlike as possible, I can't actually remember how it was in WotLK, can't remember my newbie times on retail but I am pretty sure this isn't that big of an issue. It only speeds the dungeon up a bit which is in most cases good.

I'd say that trying is the best one can do in order to higher themselves from the people crying and only complaining. Whilst you try, it doesn't mean it is always going to be the most successful result but I'd like to think that it is still a better choice than standing idle.

It can also make some dungeons much more difficult for low geared players when they will aggro more mobs that can hold and end as ... wipe.

Well ye there are some mobs which should probably agro but there are some where its possible to bypass them on retail like in uk those mobs at bottom of second set of stairs those are skipable on retail too, and btw also talking of uk in that room where the firewalls are before first boss was suprised thought that been able to pull mob through firewall so you only have to kill 2-3 mobs instead of all mobs in room thats exactly the same on retail both times I did uk on retail players did exactly the same as they do tw ie skipped most of mobs by pulling mob through firewall.

Retail here means the way retail actually was in WotLK, right ?

Well you can still pull the mobs through the fire wall at the first chamber in the Ingvar instance, 'though it's true it may not always work, but I think it should be obvious the instance is not meant to work that way.

I wasn't able to pull anything through these flames in a very long while, I know it was easily done before but right now it just says out of line of sight. Something must have changed as such boundaries seem way more solid now than they used to be on early TC. About pets, we've got movement maps enabled there so you shouldn't be able to send them through these walls either, but I haven't tried it myself.

Just pull the mobs and run to the tank, the rest will work itself out :)
