Why do mods get special treatment?

#1 » Post by Desertflare » 30 Jul 2011 22:52

I have been told to keep the world chat G rated and I get yelled at for "YEAHHH" in caps saying only one word is allowed in caps yet the moderator can talk about how they have nude pictures, use multi capped words, and just not care about the rules. This can obviously lead to corrupted power but eh who cares right?

It is grand, how you achieve to tear the entire context of this dialogue apart, with only two images.

Allow me, to tell some more about the event, of which you are talking. People were talking in world chat, as the intention of said chat is. It led to the subject of Aezshara being a girl or a boy. She told the people she was a girl, and that pictures of her could be found on these very forums. A random person, whose identity cannot be revealed by me, as I am unsure who it was, asked if these pictures were nude pictures, intentionally a joke. None of us, except OP here, was in a very serious mood, and we kept joking around on this topic. The two screenshots shown, as said, tear the entire context apart, and made it seem as if this was a rather serious conversation.

Please, if you post pictures, post the full story, and not only parts in which it seems worse than it in fact was.

What about the time I was joking around with some one on my main and got muted for a half an hour for saying a word a moderator didn't like? Obviously you think the rules should only be strictly enforced when it's towards any one you don't know. If I am to follow the rules to a T, I see it only fair that the moderators should too. If they disagree with that then they can stop being a moderator. You don't just become a moderator for fun, you take on a responsibility.

Not just that, that mod said "you can say whatever you want now, I don't moderate any channel anymore" so I see no need for you to even be defending this.

Aezshara is not a moderator anymore so i'm not sure what this has to do with anything.

The only reason Aezshara was not muted or warned was probably because there were only level 1 moderators online. Aezshara still has the grasp on a level 1 account, Roel is yet to demote her. Regardless, a moderator at the time should have at least warned her and the whole chat to stop talking about this inappropriate topic. I am quite sure that there were under 18 yr olds in that chat and incase you guys are unaware, you could have been talking about child porn. Any topic in chat of this nature is just inappropriate and should be cut down =/

I was unaware of that, I had looked on the staff list before posting this and saw that Aezshara was on there so I assumed she was a moderator.

@ Desertflare and Mr. Troll, Xentok.

I am not attempting to say that what happened was right, nor have I said that in my previous post, it is what you think I intended to say.
The point I was trying to make, was that you had messed up most of the context by randomly taking two screenshots, which could lead to a possible confusion, or mistaking the context. It was not like Aezshara came up saying: "Hey guys, look on the forums, I posted nude pics there, you can see them!", which is something you may think if you solely looking at the screenshots you posted. I'm doing nothing but clearing things a bit up.

@ Intervention, I think there was no mod online at all at that points+the topic of childporn has never been present, since it only was about the not even existing nude pictures of Aezshara, and she isn't underaged, for that matter.

I know Mith, but just saying, for all you guys know Aezshara or some other player may be underage and talking about it isn't appropriate.

Anyway, Aezshara being a ex-mod and all should know better, these topics aren't meant for global channels, even though they would be quite riveting...

Aezshara gave the character away, it's a different person playing it now. The account was never demoted, and this was an accident, I thought it was done earlier. Account will be demoted asap.

Oh yes Kraith that was indeed me,

The reason i was wacting this way is that i found ou tthat the whole staff has gone to complete shreds,

The only real good moderators left are Draeniknight an perhaps Peithne but i'm doubtfull about him at this point. Seeing as i am an ex-mod i'm either not allowed to say anything about other moderators in public (as usual) blah blah blah blah,

In the past few days i've found out why some people started hating the staff and especially Zealotry and Peithne opened my eyes to this subject. That's all i have to say about it ;) It was a HUGE mistake of mine to ever come back to truewow. I'll just be glad that i get demoted finally (after 3-5 weeks waiting from Roel) even though he's on vacation. So i can finally let all this staff bullcrap behind me and focus on being a normal player again. Which is hard being a staff member because evrything you say and do, Is either looked down upon by other staff or by players.

Not quite sure what most of that post meant but okay...

Regardless, it gives you absolutely no reason to act like the people you told off for so long.

I have played both horde and alliance for quite a while and have only seen a misuse of moderation maybe... once.. maybe twice but for the most part moderators do there job well although slightly strict on world chat... Also compared to the other servers I have played this has a quite good staff. But I could just not be paying attention I guess.

But I'm done posting now, I'll go back to playing the actual game lol.
