so it is essence insulting your parents, it's meaning was alot stronger back when i was a young child.
haha it's very interesting you bring out dictionary definition

I know what it means. And there are like 1000 other words that are not rude but can hurt feeling (starting on your parents, and ending on your pet). Still I don't think it's enough to mute.

Since you brought Wiki definition, I'll post more from our polish one:
Originally, the word bastard used mainly to describe a child out of wedlock, especially the royal heir. The term is still used in genealogy and heraldry, as well as historical literature.

In heraldry operates special symbol indicating the coat of arms coat bastard.
Translated by google because I am a bit tired. So when I will start a talk about old times and King Arthur I should be muted also for just "such word" ??

sure OkweL i understand ure point but i checked with a gm before i muted, i wouldnt mute unless i deemed it wrong.

Some one muted a player for using the word douche and i didnt agree with that but bastard in the context used is considered rude in english.

Yes i know there is a bastard sword and a bastard file, but they are being used in the proper context.

From my point of view I see it just like you enjoy muting people here and there as if you feel the power you lack in real life. Excuse me if I say this, I know it's really rude and offending, but I'm kind of tired seeing people complaining about needless mutes here and there and there's constantely mods defending each other, plus the new fact we can't comment in the right section of mods reviewing if we have been muted. It's ridicoulous and getting worse, plus threatened to be muted if we talk about it in a global chatting channel and getting posts deleted for no reason, even though I wasn't even muted but stating my opinion politely.
Whatever you say Xavia, muting someone for saying lame bastard to an unidentified person is ridiculous, muting him second time for saying lame to another don't even needs comments. Like I said, find something amusing in your life, so you can focus better in here in intervening when it's really needed.
Hang in there, baby.

@narcissa
As you can see, I am not defending everyone. I can also confess when I think I went too far or I might go too far.
I have an idea to re-make staff review topic. I'll ask @Roel for permission and if accepted, it will be changed a bit.

When someone sais something rude to you doesn't mean you have the right to mute, you are a mod/gm lvl 1, someone being rude towards you shouldn't affect your job as a mod/gm lvl 1. This only shows your unprofessinality and how you can't kope being one.

im a lower level gm here then i have been on other projects and had no issues there. There must be a difference here and i wonder what it might be, im not going to start generalising but we all know why its different here. I have no power issues, and i consider swearing as unprofessional.

The issue here is different countries races and ideals.

I work on the idea that if i walked up to a police officer here in the uk and called them that word, how long id last before id be cuffed and arrested. I dont consider that unfair.

Now compairing yourself to a policeman isn't a bit overboard and arrogant?
