WoD/Legion models for the Wotlk client

#1 » Post by skyx » 20 Jan 2017 13:54

I was teasing some random guy named Shadestar and it prompted me to look into HD models for WOTLK again.

It seems a guy named Finsternis on Modcraft has retro ported HD models into Wotlk and they work very well!

Problem for me was that the models eat up a lot of RAM and makes my client run at a much lower fps :(

You will also need Large Address Aware:

j4ckor wrote:Unfortunately it's a limitation of the wotlk client, it can't handle more than 2gb of ram.
Use Large Address Aware to mitigate the problem
Unzip it, run it, select ur wow.exe executable, tick the "use more than 2gb", save.

- Simply download, unzip and apply the patches above in WoW Data folder
For those who have the "updated" client from warmane:
- First, delete or rename (like this: xxx.mpq_) one file in Data folder (patch-W.mpq) and one file in Data->enUS folder (patch-enus-W.mpq)
-Unzip new patches and apply them in Data folder

All credits to Finsternis
PS: You won't get banned because these are only client-sided mods.
