[PW] Raid Consumables/Word Buffs Guide

#1 » Post by Fitzpatrick » 16 Mar 2016 01:17

I'd love some feedback from melee DPS on what potions/food/weapon buffs you guys prefer.
Otherwise, here you are:

It went a little longer than I wanted it to so sorry if I droned on a bit too much. Let me know what I missed!

...and since I mentioned it in the video, here's my guide to DM Tribute buffs:

HP Consumes that stack:

Rumsey Rum, Dirge's kickin Chimaera Chops, Mightfish, Gordok's Green grog

Feral Bear consumes:

Elixir of the Mongoose, Elixir of Superior Defense/Zanza 25 Stamina Potion (This results in more HP than flask of titans in bear form),
Rumsey Rum, Dirge's kickin Chimaera Chops, Mightfish, Gordok's Green grog, Brilliant Wizard Oil (14 Crit rating).

DPS Warrior Consumes:

Elixir of the Mongoose (Elixir of Giants for 2h), Elixir of Superior Defense (Turns into AP with Armored to the Teeth talent), Smoked Desert Dumplings, Dirge's kickin Chimaera Chops, Mightfish, Gordok's Green grog, Brilliant Wizard Oil (14 Crit rating).

Thanks Kurthos.
I really had no idea what mDPS were using outside of Mongoose.

Dps warrior (additions)
Add juju power (30 strength) (better than mongoose in most cases)
Dense sharpening stone (better than wizard oil, if no sp scaling weps)
Greater stoneshield potion (2k armor for prepot and midfight), use with reck+deathwish for max potential

Also there shoulndt be any fights where dps warriors should need the extra stam, but it definitely is stackable

Dense Sharpening stone isn't better than the 1% crit gained from Wizard oil. Juju Power is superior to Elixir of Giants though I'd use Mongoose in most cases.

Stoneshield/Mighty Rage Potion. Always Prepot Stoneshield, use other potion depending on the fight.

Stamina consumes were important in vanilla on specific encounters. Going forward with content, you may want to have access to them.

For hunters:
CONSUMABLES
Elixir of the Mongoose
Juju Guile from A quest in Winterspring or Elixir of Greater Intellect
Thorium Headed Arrow or Thorium Shells
Brilliant Wizard Oil
Clamlette Magnifique from A Cooking quest in Gadgetzan or Charred Bear Kabobs
Yes, I am aware of the special soulbound ammunitions. Save them for difficult encounters.

This could also become a very useful thread for guilds who want to stock up their guild banks :D

Don't forget, you can cast Juju power on your pets!

World Buffs:

Nefarian/Onyxia Head, Diremaul North Buffs, Heart of Hakkar, Felwood Songflower, Darkmoon Faire (Only works for world bosses as it falls off when you zone into raids), UBRS Fire Resist buff, Wickerman Buff (Holiday Only), Head of Rend (Not currently implemented, Horde only)

I completely forgot about Juju buffs when I made the guide. I fooled around with them once, but the only juju you can get as a caster is 30 INT, and you have to carry around that gathering item to use the resulting juju as well.

Those are listed in the video (except I think the FR buff is from LBRS)

Are you sure about that? As far as I know the Juju thingies now work almost exactly the same way as elixirs

The item is targeted, like a scroll. Or at least it should be if blizzlike.
