The elite mob is shown as hostile but can't be attacked... i saw there is yet a topic telling this quest can be completed, but i can't find a way to hit him; the error messages trying to attack him are the same as you would try to attack a friendly target.

Several times? i tried a lot of times...but nothing. I think that the low percentages of procs are messed up, like dropping a certain quest item i was looking for (esimated about 10%): i spent 30 min farming and I couldnt get a single one.
But if you say so, i'll try again, challenging many elites ^^

The quest item you have to use on the giants doesnt remove their buff nor make them non-elites.
