A druid or paladin would suit your needs I think as they offer both dps and healing options (or tanking if thats your thing) and even dps you have a lot of options to still do some off-heals to stay alive. Paladins are simpler and require less movement, druids more complex.

I agree, theres little incentive for many teams to play arena and when you have a lower pool of teams it is more difficult to climb to high MMR for even high teams, who could trade 9-1 against the only other team available during the weak and loose rank anyway.
