What about using a CMS with a nice fancy theme?
There's Aquaflame CMS and FusionCMS that are both really good.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with phpbb, it just lacks a lot of features.

Re: The bugged checker HAS TROJANS
Malwarebytes also detects it as a trojan, however it marks it as something it is not.

Re: Website makeover [ stage #1 ]
Is there a specific reason you guys are wanting to stick with phpbb? There are much more versatile forum systems, (IP Board, Xenforo), that have portal software that would work wonders for the homepage, all that would be needed is a redesign of the armory. they are kinda not free? It now redirects to a vote confirmation page, but there's no Truewow Banner entry on the first 5 pages.

Great thing about wotlk was trying to complete a set of gear so you looked cool. Not just pay a few gold and look awesome.
Also from a PVP standpoint, you can tell what gear someone has before you fight them. Which can be good.

Question (Sorry if incorrect section)
I was wondering what the requirements were for the forum Donator/Donor Rank?
Is there a certain point in the amount you donate you have to get to or what?
Regards,
Shilofax
