An easier option could be to give bosses enrage timers. That would also solve people graveyard zerging bosses to death with shadowmeld.
I do agree that additional mechanics are a far more elegant solution than debuffs, I just suspect it might be a high bar from a development perspective.

+1 to Kurthos. The Mana debuff is ok for healers since it is making it more challenging. However for DPS classes... what was this hoping to accomplish?
